EARS maintains a VHF repeater in Enterprise, AL. The repeater has been there since the 1970's.
Storms have taken their toll on the over seventy foot tall structure, and there was dirt that had settled around the three tubes which bear the main load of the down force.
Although the tower is well guyed, having a tube that is rotted away still put the entire structure at risk; including our antenna.
Here is what it looked like before repairs:
To repair and strengthen the structure in place we sunk bolts into the existing tower base and poured new concrete.
Here is a small video of Aaron (KF4BHP) drilling the holes in order sink bolts into the existing base.
The bolts will add strength to the connection between the new concrete and the existing structure. The new concrete goes up about a foot above the damaged section.
